Cavallino offers Flat 12: the history of 120° V12 engines in models produced from 1971 to 1994.

When Enzo Ferrari introduced his first car, of course with a 12 cylinder engine, he sent a clear and unequivocal message: our engines are technologically sophisticated and perform exceptionally. It is therefore no coincidence that these engines have been a constant throughout the company's seventy-seven-year history. The original small 1500 cc V12 has evolved into many interpretations, and today, as showcased in issue 261 of Cavallino, the “Ferrari 12Cilindri” engine represents the pinnacle of this evolution, celebrating this company tradition in its name and is, of course, a model equipped with the latest evolution of the 12 cylinder.

Among the many milestones of Ferrari's V12 engines, as extensively documented in this issue, a special place is reserved for the Flat-12 variants, began with the BBs and culminated in the various Testarossa models. Hence the reason for highlighting the opportunity to acquire a very detailed publication by Cavallino on the history of these engines.

The Flat 12 is an extraordinary publication documenting the history of models that used the 180° V12 engine, made available again in the year celebrating the Testarossa’s 40th anniversary.

Cavallino is proud to reissue the rich and well-documented study Flat 12: 128 essential pages for those who want to know the characteristics, data, and history of the models that used it.

The 180° flat V12 engine, first used in Formula 1 in 1961 and appearing in the 365 GT4 BB in 1971 (marketed in 1973), has been a cornerstone of Ferrari’s history. Notable models that used it include the 365 GT4 BB, the 512 BB from 1976 and BBi from 1981, the iconic Testarossa from 1984 with its several following evolutions, the 512 TR from 1991, and the final evolution of an authentic legend, the F512M from 1994.

"In issue 261 of Cavallino Magazine we wanted to celebrate forty years of the Testarossa by sharing its history," says Massimo Delbò, director of the magazine"by reissuing the original Flat 12 collection due to its exceptional content. As always, our priority is rigor, and this publication exemplifies that."

For Ferrari enthusiasts, and those who own one or more of these models, this collection is a rare opportunity. Rich in details and meticulously verified, they are produced thanks to the valuable input from individual model specialists and judges from the Palm Beach Cavallino Classic.

Originally published as separate chapters in the late 90s, these monographs are now available in a single collection, with a limited number of copies.
